Hawking
Stephen Hawking is a theoretical physicist and cosmologist. Hawking suffers from ALS, which caused him to lose his voice. He communicates via a computer that generates speech.
Hawking radiation is a type of radiation theoretically emitted by black holes. It was named after Stephen Hawking, who first theorized it's existance.
There is a main belt asteroid named 7672 Hawking, in honor of Stephen Hawking.
Robert Hawking was a student at Hogwarts in the Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban video game.
In Star Trek, two different shuttlecraft were named Hawking after Stephen Hawking.
Hawking Technology is a company that manufactures Wi-fi hardware.
Hawking fits in well with the current surname trend, and can be shortened to the very cool nickname, "Hawk". It doesn't appear in the Social Security Administration's name database, but the name Hawk was given to 33 boys in 2012. For parents in love with the sound of Hawk... why not add a few letters for a more brainy formal name?

Firenze
In Harry Potter, Firenze was a centaur that lived in the Forbidden Forest. In the first novel, he saved Harry Potter from Voldemort and carried him to safety. He became Professor of Divination when Professor Trelawney was fired by Dolores Umbridge. His colony banished him because they saw this as servitude. When Trelawney was rehired, they shared the class. Firenze was wounded in the Battle of Hogwarts, and eventually was allowed to return to his colony.
Firenze is the Italian name for the city of Florence. I think it would be a great way to honor someone named Florence. It was also the name of a famous racehorse. Firenze does not appear in the Social Security Administration's name database.

Rubeus
Crimson Rubeus was a Sailor Moon Character, and was a villain of the Black Moon Clan.
Rubeus is the Latin word for 'Red'. It does not appear in SSA's name database, making it a very rare name. Since the character was mainly called Hagrid, it's also a name that doesn't scream 'Harry Potter'.

Newton
There are craters on the moon and Mars named for Newton.
In Star Trek, there was a starship named the U.S.S. Newton. It was also the name of that particular class of vessel.
In the Harry Potter universe, Professor Newton Artemis Fido "Newt" Scamander was the author of the textbook, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. J.K. Rowling wrote a real version of the book for charity.
Newton is an English name that means 'New town'. Newton appeared in SSA's top 1,000 names in the U.S. from 1880-1957. It's highest rank was in 1880 at #182. In 2011, only 14 boys were named Newton. I love this name, and the cool nickname "Newt", but it as been totally ruined for me by a distasteful American politician.

April 2013 Rounup
Here's my monthly round up of posts from other baby name sites for April!
Baby Name Pondering had a long post on the Doctor's newest companion, Clara. I thought about profiling Clara myself, but I wanted to see how the character developed, since so much about her is still a mystery. They also profiled Khaleesi, from George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series, aka Game of Thrones. Never having read the books or seen the television show, I found it an enlightening read.
Naming the Fishes talks about the historical origins of Idris, and discusses Lore, which is known to Trekkies as the name of Data's brother from Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Nameberry shares a list of inventors, both famous and obscure, as possible namesakes. Some of the choices here are a bit odd. You really have to love coffee to name your kid after the guy who invented coffee filters.
My Name is Pabst introduces their March Madness winner, Severus Danger. Looks like this adorable lad is already working on his namesake's sneer.
Waltzing More Than Matilda has a great in depth post on Thor. I prefer the female version, Thora, myself.
For Real Baby Names found a girl named Saturn Marie.
