Ripley

Ellen Ripley was the hero of the Sci-Fi film series Alien. I have to preface this by saying that I have not seen any of the Alien movies. I love Sci-fi, but I'm a wuss when it comes to horror, and Alien always seemed too scary for me. That being said, Ellen Ripley is known for being a strong female protagonist that challenged stereotypes. 

Ripley is an English surname that means a farm whose land cuts a strip through the forest. It also comes from a town in Yorkshire of the same name. In 2011, the name Ripley was given to 31 girls and 9 boys.
